Lessons Learned from Grading ATA Practice Tests

Dr. Jessie is an ATA certified translator (English into Chinese) originally from China with primary interests in scientific and technological translations. He was a co-founder and former language chair of ATA English into Chinese certification program. He worked as a senior engineer and scientist for several U.S. government agencies before becoming a full-time freelance translator. He holds BS, MS and Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences.
The speaker will provide a thorough error analysis based on his experience grading English>Chinese practice tests over the past few years. This session is designed to provide exam candidates with a better understanding of typical translation mistakes and how different categories of mistakes are graded. A list of best practices for taking the exam will also be proposed.

CLD publishes a semi-annual newsletter containing updated information about the division as well as articles of interest contributed by members.
